My post on Sunday about prayer sparked a lot of discussions. But today, I got a message that really stood out.
It was from a female friend. She had shared the post with her pastor for answers.
She said her pastor told her that the questions I asked in that post were “demonic” and that she should avoid me.
She said she was just trying to be polite by letting me know we shouldn’t be friends anymore.
I wasn’t hurt… but I was surprised and realized that most people aren’t following the Bible but follow who teaches the Bible.
I was born into a deeply religious home.
I grew up in a church compound and till date our family house is still inside the church premises.
I went to a missionary school, not the regular missionary school you see but an orthodox one. My school was so religious to the point that when you break a school rule, not only will you be punished, you’d be taken to the alter to pray for a new salvation.
lying about being saved was another offense on its own. Failing CRE (Christian Religious Education) meant repeating the class.
So studying the scriptures wasn’t choice for me it was mandatory. But did all that make us better Christians — or just better liars and hypocrites?
Religious manipulation was the first skill I picked up as a teenager.
And sadly, many pastors have mastered this same skill.
You know who else uses it well?
Politicians.
Last election, I asked a strong Bawumia supporter why he was voting for him.
His answer?
“Because we’re both Muslims.”
He wasn’t interested on who had the better policies among the contestants. No comparison of ideas.
Just religion. That’s it.
This is the same blind loyalty many people have for pastors.
You say your pastor is “anointed,” so whatever he says must be right — even if it divides people, breeds hate, or discourages critical thinking.
I might not be a regular church goer but I’m well versed in the teachings of the Bible probably better than your pastor…. This is not an exaggeration.
It’s very easy to incite hate when you know how to weaponize religion. And that’s exactly what your pastor just did.
And if it only took him a 2-minute post to convince you to cut ties with someone you’ve known for years Then the real problem isn’t with him.
It’s with you.
You’ve got a fundamental identity crisis, and it’s time you found yourself.
I have more to say… but let’s leave it here for now.
