I’m not a pet person and it’s not just preference, it’s fear.
A neighbor of mine was bitten by a dog he’d been playing with. The bite wasn’t deep, and he brushed it off. It healed fine. Weeks passed and everything seemed normal. No one thought much of it.
Then about a month later, he started complaining of pain when swallowing. The African in Us made us think it was sore throat as this was the most common illness with that symptom, and we all recommended different treatments.
After about a week of no improvement he was finally taken to the hospital that’s when we heard it “RABIES”. Unfortunately there’s no cure once the symptoms shows. My fear for animals was born that day.
I still remember his final days. The foaming, the screaming, the unbearable pains. Ken had a slow and painful death. My fear for animals was born that day.
That’s why i hate when people say “Don’t run, he won’t do anything, he just wants to play…” Nigga cage or leash your damn dog.
To pet owners Vaccinate your pets this might save someone’s life or even yours.
To anyone who gets bitten or scratched no matter how small it looks don’t wait, Go to the hospital. Get the shots. Don’t play brave because when the symptoms show it’s game over.
This is a fear I’m not ready to overcome I keep it in me as a reminder that Animals are Animals.
